3. Can a non-technical user actually use it?
Trial it with someone who isn't on the data team. A PM. A designer. A growth marketer. If they can get a meaningful answer in their first 10 minutes, the tool is real. If they need a 30-minute walkthrough, it isn't.
4. How does it handle private data and compliance?
Conversational AI tools that touch real user data have to play nicely with privacy rules. Look for SOC 2 compliance, clear data residency answers, and a description of where user PII is and isn't fed into the model. If the vendor can't answer cleanly, walk away.
5. Does it close the loop, or just open one?

- Trial a tool with a non-technical teammate, not just the data team. The real test is whether the people who actually make product decisions can use it.
